Colour, layers, marks, patterns and texture within the painting reflect one expressive moment leading to the next. I rarely begin with a defined outcome when I start a piece of work. Rather, I start with a limited colour palette which depends on my mood and lay down initial marks or washes of colour that then determine the direction, each mark informing the next, intuitively.

Art for Sale by Elizabeth Sullivan
If you do not see your local currency, your purchase will default to USD. Elizabeth Sullivan has been drawing and painting since childhood. She grew up around horses, and worked on an Arabian horse ranch in Texas. Horses are a main subject of Elizabeth's art and have always been a part of her life. The nature of watercolors is water and water flows. It is a perfect medium to paint flowing motion. I paint in layers using transparent colors to increase vibrancy of color. She started doing art shows in , and plans to continue, as well as produce works for galleries. Her unique and original style caught the eye of several manufacturers and has now been licensed to companies who have produced area rugs, posters, coasters and greeting cards with her art.
Elizabeth is a mixed media artist living in Sydney, Australia with her husband and 3 school aged children. She was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand where she lived until her early 20s. Drawn to travel like so many antipodeans! Her love of colour and pattern began as a child and she expressed these through drawing and painting, collaging and stitching. Over the years these forms of expression have evolved and flourished into beautiful works of art. Her artworks endeavour to kindle a sensory reaction, telling a story through layers of paint and mixed media. What began as a hobby has unintentionally evolved into Elizabeth now fulfilling her dream of working as an artist from her home studio.
This new painting yet to be titled may, on the face of it, look different to works I have posted of late. By that I mean it is, for a start, in a different medium, on a different substrate. Acrylic on canvas.
